Shrimp Cocktail

 Shrimp Cocktail

In Vegas, shrimp cocktails seem to be very popular. So here’s what to expect (in case you never tried one):

 You can use:

  • frozen cooked shrimp, thawed
  • cocktail sauce
  • for garnish: parsley, lemon slices

The cocktail sauce is placed in a decorative bowl (like a martini glass).

The sauce can be made with  Heinz Chili Sauce, lemon or lime juice, catsup, horseradish, hot Sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic, celery, onion, thyme, bay leaves,  even sugar.  There are many different recepies for the sauce.

Then the shrimp can be added on top of the sauce, on the rim of the glass, or dipped in the sauce.

One of the places you can find cheap, delicious shrimp cocktails in Vegas is The Golden Gate casino downtown. It  introduced shrimp cocktail to the Las Vegas casino scene in 1959, and now it’s a Las Vegas tradition.  It features lots of ocean shrimp in an old-fashioned “tulip” sundae glass, served with a secret cocktail sauce and a wedge of lemon for only 99¢. A “Big Shrimp” cocktail is only $2.99. Locals vote their shrimp cocktail “Best of Las Vegas” year after year.

So next time you’re in Vegas you can try out this delicious cocktail in almost all casinos .

Oh, and you won’t have to worry about getting drunk, so you can have as many as you want!
