[...] When someone said that content is the most important aspect of any blog, Anca was definitely listening. The stories and information are well written, entertaining, and often humorous. The posts remind me of conversations at a friend’s house where the topic is usually light, changes frequently, and is never stuffy or pretentious. For a couple recent examples, see My 100th Post! and 10 Things I’ve Learned So Far. [...]

We agree. In my daily "rounds", I might visit lots of blogs, but if the design is smothered with colors, ads, icons, banners etc., I will just go away, without even reading a post. It's cool you're a webdesigner,I aspire to be one myself one day :)

Nice point 7. Why only 1% of all blogs listen to it? I hate colorful blogs with widgets and icons and banners? I'm not talking about nice designed blogs. I'm not talking about my blog (I have some widgets, too). Anyway, a blogger should learn some basic web design. I'm a web designer.

Very good thought process. Writing more frequently and subject matter expertise are very important in success of a blog as far as I believe. Ofcourse readability, fast page loads, no irritating ads all contribute.

Yeah, I can't stand those sites. Sometimes I land by mistake on a page that's about nothing, just trying to sell you a book on how to become a millionaire...it's hilarious. Or it has lots of popups invading your screen with "congrats! You're the 9,999,... visitor!" Hate them.
Nice you can write at work :)

Number 6...ugh...I hate number 6. They need shooting!

Hmm. Beer. I am still at work. And was when I wrote the Winnie the Pooh post today. I really do write my best stuff at work. Or when swimming in whisky at home.

Good article though! They are very true points you have mentioned.

This is oh so true. Especially the traffic thing. I hate being stuck in it, but would love it to be stuck on my blog.
