Some Posts I’ve Read Today

Continuing with the blogger love series, here are some interesting posts I’ve read today:

  • Scooby-Doo Impaled My Orange With A Unicorn - by Sy at wheelturninghamsterdead.com. Very interesting, you can provide Sy with some unrelated words and he’ll write a non-sensical story for you, based on those. This post was writen at my suggestion for the words “Scooby-Doo”, “Romania”, “Oranges” and “Unicorn”. Weird result!
  • For The Love Of Money -by Nate over at natespost.com. Even if he’s broke and unemployed, still warns about blogging for money, and advises to put passion in it;
  • 15 Best Ever Blogging Forums!- by Tom at pushstandards.com.  Like the title says, a good list of forums to join if you want some extra traffic;
  • Driving On The Left - by Gary at everything-everywhere.com. I’ve just discovered this blog about an hour ago. Gary is travelling the world, posting from everywhere. Cool pictures, and funny, witty articles. I think it would be fun to follow his adventures in different countries. He’s in Australia now, and writes about the dread of driving on the wrong side of the road!
  • SEO site review dfinitive.com :: As part of SEOContest2008 review series - by Siva at seocontest2008winner.com. This is a site made for a contest, the winning blog gets some money that Siva plans to donate to charity. He writes a series of SEO site reviews.

This is all for now, love you all, keep up the good work!

    You’re most welcome, Tom!

  4. Sy:

Oooh! I got the first link on the page! You are most kind for mentioning the story! Which I should add was written at my desk at work when I should have been working. First time I used my brain at work for a while! :)

  5. ANCA:

You’re most welcome too, Sy! I’d be curious what day job a man with so much imagination has, but maybe it would be too much to ask?

  6. Sy:

I work for the company who run the major UK airports. I am an IT guy who deals with all the servers and systems…who needs imagination in IT huh?!

  7. ANCA:

Wow, interesting. And I’m sure you use your imagination in IT too, maybe with just a bit less “ineptitudes” :)I guess you save all of your creative juices for your blog

  8. Sy:

The imagination in IT is more the explaining why the servers don’t work to people…and that it isnt fixed because I am writing a blog post or something! I started the blog as an experiment to see how it would turn out, but now I am fairly addicted to it. And because it is just general rubbish in my head, I will be able to write forever!

How are you enjoying the blogging side of things? Is it something you think you will keep doing?

  9. ANCA:

When I first started (not so long ago), I didn’t think much of it. Now it seems to have become an addiction. Really. I wake up and the first thing I do is check my comments, and the other blogs I read. I think I spend more time blogging than I do at work, I enjoy it far better. And I do think it’s something I will keep doing. I was actually thinking to go to school and get a web designer diploma, and also learn Photoshop, all since I’ve started blogging. I feel like it’s opened a totally new world for me. Maybe I seem too excited about it to you, I don’t know, but that’s how I feel. I’ve always wanted to be able to influence people for the best, and try to make a difference, as small as it might be. It’s such a wonderful feeling to reach people all over the world, that you’ve never met, and tell them “this is me, these are my passions”, and make subjects you care about public to them.
Isn’t it a great feeling for you when your stories are being read by people that support you, and you have the potential of reaching thousands and thousands?

  10. Sy:

Nope, I know exactly what you are saying. I spend a lot more time on blogging sites in the last 3 months then I have in the last 3 years! I used to do a bit of HTML in my younger years, but have not touched it for a long time, but I do now have a copy of Dreamweaver to play with. If I will actually get around to using it is a different matter as I work long shifts, but the idea is there! And to get excited about doing something like this is a great thing to have. It is a nice new lease of life to concentrate on. And yeah, having people comment means a lot. It is hard when you see x amount of people visiting and no one commenting. But then, how many sites have I been on and not commented. You dont really realise until you get your own site how important it can be!

Although just recently I have been more tempted to write some stupid book!

  11. ANCA:

I think if you keep doing what you’re doing, writing often, commenting on other sites and forums, people will learn about you and leave more comments. That’s how I started, even if I don’t have lots of commentators, every one counts!
I wish one day I’ll go in the bookstore and buy your book, and say “I knew this guy waay back, when he first started his blog”, and get an autograph on it!

  12. Sy:

Now wouldnt that be fun! I would happily autograph it for you! If I ever get around to it, I wouldnt mind writing out some stuff and seeing if they would be interested in publishing it…but I think they would laugh and say “noooooo…..”

Isnt it the middle of the night over there at the moment? You have the same insomnia I have!

  13. ANCA:

Yes, I was up all night. Now it’s almost 7 AM. That’s what I do when I want to “work” for my blog :)

  14. Siva:

Thats good list with links and explanation. Thanks for the links Anca.

  15. ANCA:

You’re more than welcome, Siva. I found interesting all the posts I’ve mentioned, I hope you did too!

  16. Chip:

Thanks for the 15 blogging forums. I started a quest for building traffic 3 forums a day. Your list came in very handy.

  17. ANCA:

It’s nice to hear that. Glad I could help :)
