How To Dress To Impress In Vegas

You want to attract attention to yourself when you come here? Keep in mind this is a crazy city and you see all sorts of stuff all the time, so going a little overboard to attract attention is OK  (just a little).

What will you do with all this attention you’ll be attracting, you might ask. Enjoy it and think of yourself as a superstar, people will want to take pictures of you. That’s just how we are in Vegas. Tell people you’re from a foreign country and you’re famous there. Or just be flashy and enjoy it. It’s Vegas, baby, anything goes!

Here are some ideas of how you can dress to impress in Vegas:

  1. Dress as Elvis or Marilyn Monroe. Get the whole outfit-wig-makeup thing.
  2. Buy the flashiest costume you can find (there are special stores where they sell show costumes), wear a bright red (or yellow) coat that sparkles like a thousand suns and then put some lights on to make you look like a Christmas tree.
  3. Dress old-fashioned. It’s something classy about that and always attracts attention. Go back in time as far as you’d like, from the 70’s disco look with high platform shoes and bushy wigs, to the wild-wild west, or even back to the caveman :)
  4. If you’re from a different country, it would be very interesting for you to wear the national costume of the country. I can assure you if you do that, you’ll have hundreds of people asking for a picture, and you’ll feel famous. Even if you’re not from a different country, act like it, dress a national costume for “support” of that country.
  5. Dress as a movie superhero. Get a Matrix costume, some black shades and you’re set. Or some fake knifes at your waist, and a pair of tall high-heeled black boots. Bbbbaaaddd to the bone, baby!
  6. Choose a color and stick to it. Red is your thing? Make people think you’re Red Riding Hood. Red hair, makeup, clothes, nail polish, shoes, purse, accessories. You’ll get noticed just like that!
  7. If you’re with your friends, make yourselves some personalized tees for all of you to wear, many people do that in Vegas. Then everybody will know you’re all together, and you’ll be in the center of attention. Make up something funny!

So as for outfits, I see everything in Vegas, don’t be afraid to put on something you always wanted to wear but never could back home. You’re in Vegas now, and it’s a playground for adults. Let your imagination loose!

How To Make Grill Pizza In Las Vegas

Take a look at this cool video I just found on youtube. At www.RVcookingshow.com a full-time RVer presents recipes along with a bit of trivia about the region. In this show Evanne finds herself  (where else) in fabulous Las Vegas. The show begins with some useful info about the city, and then continues with an easy to cook pizza recipe. You might think you know this already, but you don’t. It’s a pizza made on the grill.

I found this video very entertaining and cute, and I must say her idea could prove to be of interest to Las Vegans in those hot summer days when we all barbecue outside. Why not add a cool pizza to the grill this summer? Visualize: a hot day at the pool, a sizzling grill with crunchy mouth-watering pizza cooking, a bunch of curious neighbours asking you what the hell is that you’re grilling, and the wonders of the Strip staring at you in the background. What a perfect day. I’m hungry now. Anybody got some pizza?

How To Party In Vegas Like A VIP, On A Low Budget

        1.   Clothes are important, but most people don’t really care (or know) if you have designer clothes on, that cost thousands of dollars, or cheap imitations that just look the same. Go to Premium Outlets, any other mall, or other cheaper off-Strip stores (you can even find very nice suits and jackets at Savers, very very low prices). Another place that has cheap clothes, shoes and accessories is Ross, and it’s conveniently located on the Strip, right next to Peppermill Fireside Lounge. They have a nice choice of evening gowns, skirts, and even designer shoes like Kenneth Cole at very good prices. You have to have a nice outfit for your VIP night out!

        2.   Plan a few days ahead at least. Invite your friends, rent a limousine together. The more the merrier (and cheaper). Decide on a club you want to go to and look into the prices, they all offer packages that include VIP admission, limo ride, table reservations and bottle service. If you find their prices to high, look for a cheaper independent limo service to pick you and your friends up, and don’t buy the package. Also you might want to consider making a party compilation CD for your limo driver, to put everybody in the mood on your way to the club.

        3.   Make table reservations ahead, to make sure you and your friends will have a place to sit down at. Even if it’s not in the VIP section, you will have just as much fun at any table. Just remember, you are on a low budget, but as soon as you walk into that club all dressed up and looking fabulous , who’s gonna care?

        4.    For sure you don’t want to pay lots of money to get in, or wait in the long line. You’re a VIP. You can very easily get a VIP pass from many of the promoters out there. Usually they hang around outside the casinos, handing out passes for free. Another thing you can do is go in a nightclub, at the end of the night, when you leave, they will give you some free VIP passes for different clubs. Then you can plan your VIP night at one of those clubs you already have tickets for. Now with this VIP pass you won’t have to pay to get in, but you’ll still probably have to stay in line. If you’re a group of girls, with no guys, the bouncers will most likely let you in for free right away. If not, you can try to each contribute with some money, make one of the pretty girls in the group go to the bouncer, hand him a 20, and show him the VIP passes.

        5.   Now you’re looking good,  have all your friends here, have a limo, some VIP passes, and a table, what else do you need? A little buzz, to get the night started. Have everybody in your group contribute with some money, and buy some bottles of whatever you might enjoy drinking. Buy it off the Strip, it’s easy to take a bus for 10 minutes and go in town at a regular cheap liquor store or a Walmart. Drink a bit before you get in the club (just enough to put you in the mood, but not too much, as the bouncers won’t let you in if you’re drunk).  Now when you’re in the club, buy a bottle of something cheap. It should get you going all night.

        6.   Now all you need to do is have more fun than anybody else in that club. Get wild, dance, even scream a little, let everybody know that your table is where the party’s at. And you’ll be the VIP’s of the night.

Now go have fun, my Kevin Federlines, it’s your night and you’re all VIPs!

How To Win Big In Vegas

     1.    Look for the progressive slots, which are those who have rapidly increasing amounts of money on the top, for example “1,001..1,002…1,010…”. Choose those who have high progressives, like over a million dollars. If you’re spending your money on gambling anyway, why not play the progressives? In case you do hit those three wheels of fortune, you’ll be set for life :)

     2.   Hit the tables! You can lose big, or win big here. Yeah, that 5 dollar bill will last you a while in the penny slots, but you will eventually loose it. Play it at the tables, and you can turn it into a 50 in no time.

     3.   A lot of casinos give free table games lessons. Learn how to play craps, for example, from the experts. Why not improve on your skills and take advantage of this offer?

     4.   Learn how to play poker, in Vegas there are lots of poker rooms filled with rich people that have no idea what they’re doing. If you’re good at the game and you’re playing against inexperienced opponents, you can leave from the table with a few thousand dollars.

     5.   Always bet max if you want to win big.

     6.   Instead of spending all your money on gambling and trying to get rich, why not act rich and spend it on yourself? Go to your hotel (Bellagio, of course) in a limo, always wear a suit, tip everybody $10, smoke big cigars (even if it’s not lighted, make sure you’re always seen with one). Try to act like you’re a big winner for one day, even if you’re not.

How To Tip In Vegas

Yes, if you’re in Vegas you gotta tip! Almost everywhere you go! Trust me, a huge procentage of it’s population relies on tips rather than an hourly wage.  And I think some people have no idea of the unwritten rules of tipping in Vegas, just because they haven’t been told.  So this next short article is ment to give you a little guidance if you come from a region, or country, where tipping is not such a big deal as in Vegas.

Who do you tip? Well, there’s virtually not one person that you can’t tip.  Let’s make a list with all the people that normally “work for tips”, or a big part of their income is based on tips:

- dealer, valet attendant, cocktail waitress, bartender, bellman, free shuttle bus driver, taxi driver, busser, food server, room maid, room service; oh, and strippers;

Still, Vegas is a city build on customer service, and everybody  involved in the process is going to expect a tip. When you go to a spa, a beauty-saloon, you will be expected to tip; the hairdresser, the massage therapist, the cosmetician, the manichiurist….The cashiers sometimes have tip jars.

How much should you tip? The limit is entirely up to you. The minimum is ONE dollar, I saw alot of people tipping ridiculously small amounts, like 5 cents, 10 cents, a quarter, you get the ideea… Please, if you’re going to tip somebody, spare at least ONE dollar… it is very offending to receive a 20 cent tip, so if you’re going to offend somebody like that, don’t expect good service next time, and do expect for them to politely return your tip. Is better not to tip at all than to give a cocktail waitress 10 cents, for example. The exception applies to cashiers, who would gladly accept your change in their tip jar.

At a restaurant, 15% of your bill is good, but still, no matter how much your bill is, tip at least 5 dollars. I like to tip at least 5 dollars if the service was OK. If the service was exceptional, you can tip the server alot more, even 20 dollars for a $50 bill.

So, if you want everybody to be happy, tip, please! Many people in Vegas are going to go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible, so do consider this nice people work for a minimum wage, and the reason why they do more than their job description says they should, is because they appreciate your tip. Most of them work really hard, and it’s not for that 5 or6 dollars an hour they’re paid!
