blogaboutyourblog.com

megavegalicious   BlogAboutYourBlog  is Matthew Henrickson’s project that reunites several authors on topics like making money online, marketing and blog promotion. “Blog about your Blog (BAYB) is a place for good quality bloggers to come together and collaborate on one big project”.

I must warn that what follows next is entirely my uneducated, amateurish, uncouth, humble review:

PRO’s

  • clean design, nice logo and memorable nickname: BAYB
  • it’s been around for a while, about a year and a half, so it has a consistent number of articles and an established readership
  • updates frequently
  • it has several contributing writers, you can contact Matthew if you’re interested
  • has lots of contests going on, and also lets you know about contests that are happening in the blogosphere
  • home of the “Comment Friday”, where Matthew asks a question and the best comment on that topic wins a spot on the blogroll and Entrecard credits
  • very useful articles on SEO, traffic and blogging tips
  • reviews blogs and websites
  • Wordpress related articles
  • feel of community, Matthew answers his comments
  • no pesky ads on his blog, apart from a few on the sidebar
  • if you’re a subscriber, from time to time you’ll get to read articles about sports (Matthew also has a baseball blog) or other personal interests, which can be a refreshing change

CON’s

  • has no “top commentators” plugin (for some reason I like it, it encourages people to comment and creates a better feel of community). But it does have “recent comments”
  • has no “Home” page (for me it’s important if I navigate away to be able to come back in a click)
  • the font used is small, especially the one on the sidebar

Overall, this is a great blog to add to your feed, a great read and valuable source for bloggers. You’ll feel part of a community, learn and have fun with original articles and contests.  It’s one of the top blogs in it’s niche out there, so you don’t want to miss out!

Good luck Matthew!

natespost.com

megavegalicious   Natespost.com is a blog about Nathan Turner’s  ”journey from unemployment to online wealth”. It is a very, very new blog, that’s doing well so far. Nate is trying to promote by giving away $50 to whoever is commenting on his blog and subscribing to his feed. It’s worth it, even if you won’t win the $50!

I must warn that what follows next is entirely my uneducated, amateurish, uncouth, humble review:

PRO’s

  • a nice looking design, clean, nice logo, organized sidebar
  • displays “top commentators”, ”recent comments” and “most recent posts”. Easy to navigate, and comment-friendly
  • nate does respond to all the comments he gets, is friendly and willing to help
  • has  a cool contest going on right now: win 20% of my unemployment check , visit him, maybe he’ll have more contests coming soon. You can win $50 just by commenting and subscribing to his feed
  • he has a great sense of humor! Writing about blogging with a sense of irony and humor makes it more fun to read, I like his style
  • he documents every step of the way, showing his readers how his traffic, subscribers and revenue increase, making his blog a unique experiment for anyone who’s interested in seeing how you can build a successful blog from the ground up.
  • he gives advice and info on anything related to blogging
  • has only a few ads so far, and it will definitely not become one of those blogs with more ads than info
  • updates his blog very often, writes around once a day

 CON’s

  • very, very new blog, so does not have a lot of articles (for now!)
  • does not have a “categories” section where you can see the articles organized on the topic. But, as I said, it’s a new blog, and there’s basically one main topic: blogging
  • I like the design and everything else, don’t have any more CON’s coming to mind

Well, this was it.

I really wish Nate all the best and do hope to see him get from unemplyment to online wealth. I will be checking back, it’s so interesting to see those numbers go up and him getting an inch closer to his goal! Great opportunity to see how to make it in this “business”, directly from a blogger that’s giving you first hand reports every step of the way!

Pushstandards.com by Tom Ross, an experienced web designer.

“A blog about my various online projects, as well as post articles discussing blogging, web design/trends, and marketing”

It’s a very new blog, that promises to grow nicely. Interesting, useful articles.

I must warn that what follows next is entirely my uneducated, amateurish, uncouth, humble review:

PRO’s

  • slick design: clean, simple yet effective (the man’s a web designer!!!)
  • nice, clear layout; organized look; easy to follow
  • interesting articles, especially those about marketing and blogging; great advice on how to improve your blog, everything from traffic, design, to monetization;
  • love the fact that he included Photoshop tutorials in there
  • always has some kind of contest happening, with pretty cool prizes
  • offers reviews and adds for other bloggers
  • you can hire the owner (Tom Ross) for design work
  • Tom actually answers all his comments
  • and a last BIG pro: the blog is fairly “clean” of those pesky adds you see everywhere on soooo many blogs (it seems like every two lines you read there’s a Google Add in there somewhere or an Amazon affiliate). In fact, he doesn’t seem to monetize his site at all through adds (for now), except for four adds he has in his sidebar. I love that about it!

CON’s

  • it has only a few articles (for now, of course). It’s not a real con, Tom! (I just don’t have that many con’s coming to mind right now)
  •  if you want him to write a review about you, it will cost you around $50
  • for some reason I don’t like the green color he chose for his menu bar (it’s a question of personal taste, love the blue theme of the page but I don’t think it goes with the loud, bright green there)
  • I’m trying hard here…. can’t come up with anything else for now

Well, this has been my review of pushstandards.com

I think Tom has a bright future ahead and I’m sure his presence online will be more and more visible. That’s why I’ll keep an eye on his blog, waiting for some more great, useful articles to inspire me.
